Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club
President's Post February 2016

With what I'm sure will be a bumper Bumblebee just around the corner I will leave this (and our Editor Ferg) to highlight the busy peak summer period that we have now completed and use this edition of The Post to briefly highlight some things on the horizon.

If you follow us on Facebook then you will have seen that we are reintroducing the 2 awards nights again.
Save the dates ! The return of the 'traditional Easter Awards Night', to recognise the achievements of our volunteers with achieving new lifesaving qualifications as well as the club championships. Easter Saturday - 26th March at the Clubhouse, 6:30pm for 7:00pm. More details to come.
The return of the 'Winter Presentation Night', our premier awards and recognition function, to be held in the Point Lonsdale / Queenscliff area after the AGM, Saturday 16th July. More details to come.

2017 will be a special year as the Club is set to celebrate 3 milestones ... our 70th anniversary of formation, 50 years of the Nipper program and 30 years of the Rip View Swim Classic.
Saturday 21st October has been set aside for some form of official function, so pop this in your diary now.

With our 70th anniversary approaching it is time to look at our strategic future too as our current 10 year plan expires in 2017.
The current document was a significant achievement and has provided invaluable assistance to the Executive in strategic planning and direction.
I am seeking written nominations from current members who may like to form a working group who will draft our 'next 10 year plan' and the group will consist of myself, and up to one member of the 'current' Executive, 2 members of the 'current' General Committee, a Life Member and 2 other members, Please email me ( with your nomination, including relevant experience and why you would like to be on the working party before Sunday 20th March.

To close, LSV affiliated Clubs are eligible to receive a State Government grant to assist with the costs to purchase and install a solar electricity system, capable of generating up to 5kw. We have submitted our application and this will help to minimise our daytime electricity costs and use from the grid as well as the obvious flow on environmental benefits. Thank you to the Victorian Government for this great initiative !
