In today's mail you should have received your membership renewal package. Thanks to Club Secretary Steve Woodfull and the Office team for getting this to you. We understand that for some of our members financial pressures are a fact of life - we have aimed to keep any increases to a minimum and have introduced a concession rate for membership categories under 18.
Spring has sprung and more and more areas of our Club are busily meeting, planning and undertaking actions for the up and coming Season. Thanks to everyone who is assisting with our preparatory works.
I would like to touch on a few of these activities below.
For those that don't know, parts of the HC Windmill Back Beach Base are in poor condition. The Executive engaged a Structural Engineer who has provided some professional advice and this will now allow us to undertake the necessary works to make this safe for both members and for the public in the short term. These works should commence soon, but the need for extensive works to the original front section will be significant and require additional planning and investigation which has commenced. Thanks to our Vice President (Property) Andrew MacLeod who is leading this area.
Well done to the Life Saving Services Area who are well underway for Patrols, with Patrol Captains / Vice Captains selected and plans for a comprehensive training and induction program.
Dates for the Bronze and Cadet Camps have now been finalised. Vice President (LIfesaving) Paul Lunny and the Training and Assessment team are developing a Camp that will run from Sunday 13 December until Saturday 19 December and have a live in component at YMCA Camp Wyuna Queenscliff. The groups will run simultaneously but cater for the needs of the respective age groups and a major focus of the new program is investing for our future. The timing will allow for 100% of Club resources to be dedicated to the program without conflict from other Club activities and events.
More information will be available on the Education page of the Club website before the end of September.
We farewell Club Office Manager Sophie Rome and Club Coach David Strahan.
Sophie has been with us for the last couple of Seasons and we wish her well with her health battles.
David has been a long time asset to the Club's Aquatic Sports area and he is devoting more time to his young family.
Saturday 21st November has been earmarked for a Season Launch function, to be held at the Monohan Centre Queenscliff. The location has breathtaking views of the Heads and will allow us to thank all those that take on positions of responsibility within the Club and to gather before the peak period commences.
