City of Salinas Awards Eight Permits to Commercial Cannabis Businesses

Salinas, CA -- Today the City of Salinas announced the names of the businesses recommended to receive Commercial Cannabis Permits by the City's Selection Committee.

The City has the ability to issue Permits for Manufacturing, Cultivation, Dispensary, and/or Delivery businesses, with a maximum of three permits for each category.

The issuance of these Permits follows an exhaustive 12-month review undertaken by a Committee of City Staff and consultants, consisting of Megan Hunter, Community Development Director; David McPherson, Cannabis Compliance Director for Hdl Companies; Andrew Myrick, Economic Development Manager; and Matt Pressey, Finance Director.

The City received a total of 24 applications from 17 different applicants. The City conducted an exhaustive 12-month process to thoroughly examine the proposed businesses. Companies were evaluated based on their location, the expertise and background of the business owners, security plans, practices to promote environmental sustainability, plans to support community organizations, job creation and job quality, and local ties.

The businesses the Committee has recommended for approval are as follows:

Manufacturing:
  1. Cypress Manufacturing, 20 Quail Run Circle
  2. 710 Combinator, 514 Work Street
  3. Monterey Bay Alternative Medicine, 1610 Moffett Street
Cultivation:
  1. Cypress Manufacturing, 681 Work Street
  2. Monterey Bay Alternative Medicine, 1610 Moffett Street
Dispensary:
  1. Cypress Manufacturing, 681 Work Street
  2. Canna Cruz, 1156 Abbott Street
  3. Monterey Bay Alternative Medicine, 1610 Moffett Street
The Selection Committee has drafted permit conditions to address concerns relating to the operations of these businesses, including concerns that have been brought forth by the community. These documents will be public record and will be released once signed by all parties -- businesses that do not operate in accordance with the terms and conditions of their permit face suspension or revocation of their permit. In addition, applicants will still need to obtain any required Zoning or Building Permits before they can start their operations or do any work on the site.
