Salinas Offers Opportunities to Help Build the Alisal
Salinas, CA -- The City of Salinas is recruiting five people who want to make a positive impact in the Alisal as members of the VISTA (Volunteers In Service to America) program. The deadline to apply is June 5.
During their year of service, VISTA members, known as VISTAs, will help support community-driven projects in the Alisal, including the development of the Alisal Vibrancy Plan. They will form the Alisal Support Team and will work together on multifaceted strategies focusing on Economic Opportunity, Education, and Healthy Futures.
Benefits for participants include a living allowance to cover basic expenses, healthcare, childcare assistance, a pause in student loan payments, a completion-of-service award, and more.
Thousands of VISTAs serve community organizations (including nonprofits and governments) across the U.S. by developing capacity in anti-poverty projects. VISTAs are full-time service members through the Federal Corporation for National and Community Service, not City employees.
More information about the VISTA program for the City of Salinas, including details about the application process, is available here. A flier about the benefits to being a VISTA is available here.
