Author Nina Simon on "The Art of Relevance" at John Steinbeck Library April 13
Salinas, CA -- The Salinas Public Library will host a free event with Nina Simon, local author and Director of the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History, this Thursday at 10 a.m. Simon will discuss her book, "The Art of Relevance," and how mission-driven organizations can matter to more people.
The event is sponsored by the Salinas Public Library, the Asian Cultural Experience, and the Friends of the Salinas Public Library as part of National Library Week.
On April 4, Salinas Mayor Joe Gunter signed a Proclamation recognizing National Library Week locally.

Nina Simon has been described as a "museum visionary" by Smithsonian Magazine for her audience-centered approach to design. She is the Executive Director of the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History, and has consulted with hundreds of international museums, libraries, parks, historic sites, art and cultural centers on issues of relevance, community engagement, and participatory design. Nina is the author of the best-selling book "The Participatory Museum" and the popular Museum 2.0 blog. Her work has been shared in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, NPR, and TEDx. She lives off the grid in the Santa Cruz mountains with fourteen people, twenty-seven chickens, five dogs, and one zipline.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
