Salinas Animal Services reduces adoption fees through December 31

Salinas, CA -- Salinas Animal Services has a big goal for this month -- get every adoptable pet in a home with a family for the holidays.

To achieve that goal, they have reduced adoption fees through December 31.

For cats and kittens, the adoption fee is $50. That includes their spay/neuter surgery, a microchip, and rabies vaccination and annual vaccinations, as well as a "new adopter packet" with helpful cat owner information. Feline immunodeficiency virus/feline leukemia virus testing is not included.

The adoption fee for all dogs and puppies has been reduced to $75. That includes their spay/neuter surgery, microchip, rabies vaccination, and other vaccinations as well as a packet of helpful new dog owner information. A Salinas City dog license costs an additional $18.

"When you adopt from a shelter, you really save two lives; the life of the animal you adopt and the life of the animal that takes its place in the cage," says Mayor Joe Gunter. "And, these adoption savings allow you to save a little in the pocket book as well. It's a win-win for all."

To adopt a pet, visit Salinas Animal Services, located at 144 Hitchcock Road in Salinas, or visit www.SalinasAnimals.com, where pictures are updated each hour. The shelter is open Tuesday-Friday from 12-5 p.m.

The shelter takes in approximately 3,500 lost and stray animals from within the City limits of Salinas and Marina each year. More information is available by calling 831-758-7285 or visiting www.SalinasAnimals.com.
