December is going to be a busy month at the library. Between the Community Forum for El Gabilan Library, and Comic Con, we have a lot scheduled. For teenagers preparing college applications, we have a College Workshop at Cesar Chavez Library that they won't want to miss.

Community Forums and Focus Groups
Last week, we hosted a focus group with teenagers at El Gabilan Library and asked them what they would like to see in a new library.
This Saturday, we're inviting you to join us for an afternoon of collaboration and planning as we begin the process of building a new library in North Salinas. Now is the time to voice your opinions and make suggestions.
Please call (831) 758-7311 for more information.

Kindergarten Campaign Wraps Up
We're happy to report that a total of 272 kindergarten children received new library cards during the recent library card campaign in September and October. We visited a total of 30 elementary schools, and 110 classrooms in the Alisal Union, Salinas City Elementary, and Santa Rita Union school districts. Five teachers from each school district were selected to receive a set of award winning picture books based on the number of children in their classrooms who activated their cards.

Come to Comic Con and get a chance to win a Samsung Tablet from hoopla. All you have to do is go to the Salinas Public Library booth and download a comic book from the library's Digital Branch to be entered to win.
