Salinas, CA -- Salinas Mayor Joe Gunter has proclaimed Nov. 26 Small Business Saturday®, with the goal of encouraging residents and visitors to support local businesses on the busiest weekend of the year -- and year round.

The proclamation recognizes small business for the contributions they make in providing jobs and generating revenue, and for the unique cultural and social benefits they bring to the community.

Events downtown this Saturday will include caroling from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., kids' crafts, a scavenger hunt, and a raffle.

In addition, the City is permitting sidewalk sales and promotions on weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and providing 500 parking structure vouchers, each good for four hours. Parking vouchers can be obtained at the Welcome booth on Small Business Saturday or, on subsequent weekends, at Salinas 411 at 222 Main St.
