New Salinas Police Chief
Will Start Nov. 28

Salinas, CA -- Adele Fresé, the newly hired chief of the Salinas Police Department, will start work on Monday, Nov. 28, City Manager Ray Corpuz announced today. A swearing-in ceremony will be held on Friday, Dec. 2.

The start date for Chief Fresé was originally projected for the middle of this month, but was delayed while her employment agreement and background check were completed. Between now and Nov. 28, she will complete commitments in Greenfield and take a short break.

"I'm very much looking forward to the beginning of Chief Fresé's service with Salinas," said City Manager Corpuz. "As I mentioned when we announced her selection, we considered 40 candidates from across the country. We believe Chief Frese's record of excellence, her knowledge of our area, and her commitment to community policing all make her a great match for Salinas."

"Having both observed and worked in partnership with the Salinas Police for several years, I'm honored to have the opportunity to lead them," said Chief Frese. "I can't wait to get started."

Currently the chief in Greenfield, Adele Fresé takes over from former Salinas Chief Kelly McMillin, who retired at the end of September.

Details about the Dec. 2 swearing-in ceremony will follow as they become available.

More information about Chief Fresé is available in this press release from Sept. 21.
