New Digital Learning Stations at
Salinas Public Libraries
Salinas, CA -- Salinas families are invited to try out the brand new AWE Digital Learning Stations located at El Gabilan, Cesar Chavez, and John Steinbeck libraries.
Each station has more than 4,000 fun, age-appropriate activities for preschoolers and elementary students, which will help prepare them for school by building literacy skills.
The award-winning interactive program is also aligned with STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math) education. It covers seven educational areas: math, science & nature, social studies & geography, reading, art & music, writing & computer skills, and reference.
The Digital Learning Stations are part of an ongoing effort by the City of Salinas to increase literacy levels among children. Studies show that youth who grow up in low-income communities enter kindergarten at a disadvantage compared with their more affluent peers and are unable to catch up later, falling further and further behind. Early literacy programs can help children to start school better prepared, which increases their likelihood of staying on track.
