City's Proposed Budget Restores and Invests in Community Priorities
Salinas, CA -- The City's proposed fiscal year 2016-17 budget will move a step closer to adoption next Tuesday, when the City Council reviews it a second time before voting on it. The spending plan will support the goals and objectives of the City Council, which are based on public input, recommendations from committees, and advice from staff. Goals are:
- Economic Diversity and Prosperity
- Safe, Livable Community
- Effective, Sustainable Government
- Excellent Infrastructure
- Quality of Life.

The total size of the City's proposed budget is about $165.7 million, divided between Operating -- providing services and running the government -- and Capital -- a new police facility, fire station improvements, police and fire vehicles, street and side walk improvements and maintenance, ball field repairs, street tree trimming, and more.
