Help Plan Our Shared Future!

A mom, a dad, a daughter and a son Imagine you've been given $500.

And you have to spend it for the good of Salinas.

Where would you spend the money?

That's the big question behind the Salinas Budget Challenge. For the first time ever, we're inviting Salinans to help design our city's budget -- hands on.

You can join in right now -- just click here to get started online. Or you can come to a live Town Hall meeting -- see the article below.

How much for Public safety? How much for economic development? How much for quality of life?

These are the questions city leaders wrestle with all the time. And now you're invited to take part.

The Salinas Budget Challenge only takes 5 minutes -- or 15 minutes, if you want to go into more detail.

We'll look at your ideas, and they'll influence the budget we adopt in June for 2014-2015. They'll influence our thinking about the possible revenue measure this fall, too.

The Salinas Budget Challenge is part of the City's commitment to open democracy. We hope you'll take this opportunity to join in.

March 5, 6 or 12

Some of us just like to see, hear and do things in person. If that's you, come on out to a Salinas Community Priorities Town Hall, and help design our city's upcoming budget!

We'll share information on challenges and opportunities for our city, and discuss with you how we can set priorities for meeting them.

It will bring you face to face with the tough, important decisions that will shape our future -- and the satisfaction of knowing you had an influence on how those decisions are made.

There are three Town Halls, covering the city's six districts. Admission is free, but we hope you'll click an RSVP link to let us know you're coming:
