Your left lung is smaller than your right lung to make room for your heart. For most people, if they were asked to draw a picture of what the lungs look like they would draw both looking roughly the same size. While the lungs are fairly similar in size, the human heart, though located fairly centrally, is tilted slightly to the left making it take up more room on that side of the body and crowding out that poor left lung.

Physicians commonly use equipment that costs $100,000 do detect cancer in patients. Soon to be a very big waste of money? Looks like that could be the case. Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are doing the same type of testing with technology, an imaging technique known as fluorescence lifetime imaging, and it only costs $100.
In the movie "Back to the Future," Doc Brown, having just returned from the year 2015, poured garbage into a "Mr Fusion" to generate fuel for his sports car/time machine. Here we are in 2015, still waiting for fusion technology to power the world. Here's the next best thing: "Mr Plasma."

Light-Bending Microchip Could Fire Up Quantum Computers
For the first time, scientists have achieved infinite speeds on a microchip. Although this advance will not enable faster-than-light starships, the light-warping technology behind this innovation could lead to new light-based microchips and help enable powerful quantum computers, researchers said.
