Current Students Asked Questions About College Life
 On Jan. 9, 17 alumni returned to Affton High School to serve on a College Panel, speaking to current juniors and seniors about "Life After Affton." Representing 14 different colleges and universities - seven public, seven private - the undergrads and graduate students fielded questions about their academic and extracurricular experience. Math Night at Mesnier Primary
184 Families Enjoyed Activities Focused on Math Skills
 On Jan. 10, Mesnier halls filled with eager students wanting to learn math games and activities. There were 184 Mesnier families that took part in Math Night, which focused on skills included in the state's Common Core Standards.

Fifth-Grader Wins Gotsch Spelling Bee
"Authoritative" Was Final Word
 Thirty-five students at Gotsch Intermediate School in Affton competed in the school's Spelling Bee on Fri., Jan. 11. Kaitlyn Pluff, a fifth-grader whose teacher is Eric Bowen, won the competition with the word "authoritative." Fourth-graders Kimberly Welch placed second, and Anna Bohnert placed third.
