St. Louis Rams Visit Rogers Middle School
Greg Zuerlein & Steven Jackson Award 1st Place Prize
Last Tuesday, Nov. 20, Rogers Middle School welcomed two special guests, St. Louis Rams kicker, Greg Zuerlein, and running back, Steven Jackson, to award RMS 8th graders, Reja Franklin and Maria Stoencheva, first place in Fuel Up to Play 60's National Touchdown Dance Challenge.

Hero Parade at Mesnier Primary School
Local Military, Veterans, Policemen and Firemen Honored
Mesnier Primary School held their 4th Annual Hero Parade on November 20. Firefighters, policemen, and veterans were invited to enjoy breakfast, listen to patriotic music by the Mesnier Mini-Singers, and walk in a parade through the halls. Read more and see pictures here.

 

RMS Teachers Awarded Technology Grant
$15,000 to be used to purchase iPads for eighth-graders

Two eighth-grade teachers at Rogers Middle School have been awarded a grant by the Innovative Technology Education Fund (ITEF), providing $15,000 toward teaching with touch pad technology. Jennifer Pointer, eighth-grade communication arts and science teacher, and Jennifer Roach, eighth-grade social studies and math teacher, plan to purchase Apple iPads, apps and accessories for their classrooms. Free Early Childhood Screenings
Parents As Teachers Offers Developmental Screenings
 

Affton residents ages 3 years to Pre-Kindergarten have the opportunity to receive a free developmental screening with the Affton Parents As Teachers program. Screenings are a brief assessment of skills in the areas of Motor, Concepts and Language. The purpose of a screening is to ensure that children receive the maximum benefits from their educational experiences.

Community screenings will be held by appointment only on Friday, December 14. To make an appointment, or for additional information, please contact Affton Parents As Teachers at 314/633-5988.

Over $25,000 Awarded to Affton Teachers
Affton Education Foundation Awards Teacher Grants
Affton teachers were surprised in their classrooms by members of the Affton Education Foundation when they were awarded grants on Tuesday, Oct. 30. For the 2012-2013 school year, the Foundation awarded $25,450 for 27 grants. Read more and see pictures here
