We kicked off a very fast-moving session with our third annual legislative breakfast, featuring our panelists: Rep. Don Parsons (R-Marietta), Rep. Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates), Rep. Penny Houston (R-Nashville), and Sen. Ed Harbison (D-Columbus). The event was moderated by Jim Galloway, AJC Political Insider author and reporter.
Today is the 24th day of the 40-day session. Crossover Day is scheduled for February 29. For a bill to remain active this session, it has to pass one chamber by Crossover Day.
From supporting legislation to end the nuclear construction surcharge on power bills and to address surprise medical bills to opposing numerous bills that could weaken restrictions on lending products, we have been actively working to protect consumers at the Capitol this year. Helping Consumers Avoid Tax Scams

We are thrilled to announce our recently updated Free and Reliable Tax Prep Map of Georgia! Thanks to our partnership with IRS VITA, AARP Tax Aid Program and the Georgia Tech College of Computing, we were able to produce a user-friendly map of all VITA and AARP sites in Georgia. AARP tax sites are free for anyone, regardless of income or age, and IRS VITA sites are free for anyone who makes $54,000 or less. Please share this resource widely!
