THE WATCHER
News from Georgia Watch

The Georgia Watch team headed into 2015 with renewed energy and commitment to creating a state that is a model for consumer protection. Now roughly a quarter of the way into the legislative session, we're working hard at the Capitol to make sure your voice is heard and your interests are protected. See below for an update on the legislation we're following and how you can take action along with us.

We are very excited to have launched a new website -- with new consumer resources, regular blog posts and features on our policy work!  Please check out all the new features at www.georgiawatch.org.

Finally, I wanted to take a moment to share with you the news that the Georgia Watch board of directors named me executive director last week. I am honored the board selected me for this position and I look forward to continuing our work to educate, empower and protect consumers in Georgia.

Sincerely,

Liz Coyle

Executive Director

Georgia Watch is dedicated to keeping you up to date on our progress to protect and empower consumers during the session.  We update our blog regularly with legislative content. See our overview of the first month in session here and our new post on the return of the "Patient Compensation Act" here
FREE & RELIABLE TAX PREPARATION MAP

A new interactive map locating tax preparation services around Georgia will help families connect to free assistance, avoid the unnecessary expense of paid preparers, and keep more of their tax refunds. The map features AARP and IRS VITA free tax preparation sites and includes information about making appointments, hours of operation, and more. VITA sites will complete and file tax returns for families with incomes below $53,000.  AARP sites have no income maximum or other eligibility requirements.
