Steve's Library Staff Pick:
Canoeing With The Cree
Canoeing with the Cree is Eric Sevareid's classic account of the canoe trip Walter C. Porter and he took in 1930, starting in Minneapolis and ending at York Factory on Hudson Bay. The two inexperienced 17-year old adventurers traveled over 2,250 miles through the Canadian wilderness without any of the technology on which we have become so dependent. This is a great read for the armchair adventurer who dreams of distant horizons in an age when few, if any, truly distant horizons are left.
