Pat's Library Staff Pick:
Fire At Peshtigo
Pat Plamann
Amazing book! I had known about the Peshtigo fire, but upon picking up this book, I found I knew little about this ferocious fire. Author Robert W. Wells speaks of the causes and effects of the fire, as well as astounding personal stories of homesteaders, business owners, and lumberjacks in what was a frontier at that time. Some lived through the fire, others did not. He includes a map that shows one million acres burned, a very shocking graphic. Fire At Peshtigo is not a new book, but you will find you cannot put it down. A Wisconsin history must read.
