Our Library Director Is Retiring
Best Of Luck, Terry!
Thank you Friends Of The Delafield Public Library for hosting a recent retirement dinner at the Seven Seas Restaurant for library director Terry Zignego. Terry will remain at the library through Monday, December 28 of this year; she will return for a few days in January for a transition period and reception for library patrons. Plan to stop in Friday, January 22 to bid farewell to Terry. Enjoy these photographs from the dinner (above: former library board member Dick Reul, Terry, Arliss Reul; below: Susan and Steve Reckner, Terry, Arleen Hasley).

Jane's Library Staff Pick:
The Honest Truth
I love adventure books, and I love to "book talk" them to kids. I recently read a new book that rivals Hatchet and My Side Of The Mountain as a spectacular adventure story for middle-grade readers. The Honest Truth, by Dan Gemeinhart, is about Mark, a boy who has been fighting cancer since he was 7. Now at 12, he realizes he's probably at the end of available treatments. His decision to take control of his own life and go off with his dog to climb Mt. Rainier and die on his own terms is brave and justified. The story is told in half chapters - in Mark's voice, and that of his best friend Jessie, who tries to decide whether telling what's she's guessed or keeping silent would be best for their friendship. This is a keeper!
