Thank You Library Volunteers
We celebrated our incredible library volunteers at a reception last week held at Hawks Inn Visitors Center in downtown Delafield. Volunteers were presented with our gratitude, goodies, food, and drink. Above photo includes: (front row) Arleen Hasley, Denise Labott with Drake the Labrador; Sydney Tylke; (middle row) Beth Witte-Cleary, Mary Brauer, Sue Dahlberg; (back row) Joey Coffaro, John McConnell, Cheryl Johnson, Kathy Light, Kim Pade, and Doug Becker. Denise and Drake the therapy dog have volunteered a whopping 1,445 hours since 2011. Children have read 925 books to Drake in our wonderful children's library during that time. Longest-serving volunteer is John x, who has served since 20xx. More valued volunteers include: Kate Barbour, Patricia Barwig, Kathy Bridge, Virginia Carrell, Yvonne McCormick, Jan McGraw and therapy dog Mollie, Joyce Olson, Max Porchetta, Amanda Siegel, Sue Rolison, Lonnie Rott, Jean Yeomans, and Daphne Williams.
Delafield Public Library Board Vice President Char Hall offered her thanks on behalf of the board.
A well-attended volunteer reception included: (left to right) Diane Basting, library staff; Denise Labott, volunteer; x, volunteer; x, volunteer; Cheryl x, volunteer; Melissa Rader, library staff.

Emi's Library Staff Pick:
Amanda Knox was a 20-year-old study abroad student in Italy when her roommate was murdered. An over-eager, malicious prosecutor charged Amanda and her boyfriend with the murder. Despite clear forensic evidence, Amanda was incarcerated in Italy for four years for a heinous crime she did not commit. She was the subject of intense media attention, both positive and negative. I recommend this memoir as it lends insight into her side of the story as a quirky, immature girl who quickly grows up under the most tortuous of circumstances. Plus, it reinforces an ideal I hold dear: Don't answer questions from authorities until you have a lawyer.
