Steve's Library Staff Pick:

   Nebraska

Steve Reckner

When an aging and alcohol-addled Woody Grant received a magazine sweepstakes mailing, he's convinced that he has won a million dollars and that he must travel from Montana to Nebraska to collect it. His wife, Kate, refuses to take him. With no driver's license, Woody starts walking.  After several unsuccessful attempts, Woody's youngest son grudgingly agrees to drive him. A father/son road trip leads to the discovery and deepening of relationships within a dysfunctional family in this beautifully shot film in black and white. Both funny and sad, it is a character study of the Grant family and small-town America.
