Terry's Library Staff Pick:

       The Golem & The Jinni

          Terry Zignego
The Golem & the Jinni by Helene Wecker is a page-turning blend of fantasy and historical fiction set in turn-of-the-century Manhattan. The Jinni, a magical being of fire, finds the Golem, a creature made of mud, and the adventure begins.  This book combines Jewish and Arabic folk mythology as the two characters innocently create mayhem in the world around them.  The ending leaves the possibility of a sequel; I sure hope so.

Wary of Teen book content?  We offer:
Clean Reads For Teens

Concerned about what's in teen books? "Teen" designates reading level, but some teen books may not be appropriate for your child. Teen librarian Melissa recommends the following Clean Reads:
Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld
Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz
Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
The Red Necklace by Sally Gardner
Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt
Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larsen
Code Talker by Joseph Bruchac
Belle Epoque by Elizabeth Ross, and many more!

The library also offers teen inspirational books - look for the inspirational spine sticker.
Please ask us to find what is right for your child.

Did you know the library has a self check out? Many people prefer to check out their library selections themselves for a variety of reasons.  To self check out, first scan your library card and then scan the item's LIBRARY barcode.  Most common mistake?  Scanning the wrong barcode (the library barcode will be located inside DVDs so you can easily make sure the disc is inside before checking out).  Please ask us where to find the self check out.
