HHP & IHS Respond to Veterans Affairs
Re: Proposed Rule RIN 2900-A046-Authorization for Non-Medical Services

HHP President, Don Tucker, and IHS Executive Director, Kathleen Mennillo, provided comments to the Veterans Affairs regarding proposed rule, "RIN 2900-AO46 - Authorization for Non-VA Medical Services." Both letters addressed concerns that many Veterans are without timely access to hearing evaluations, hearing aids, hearing aid repair and services experiencing long waiting periods within the VA.

Both organizations requested that the VA consider allowing non-VA providers to provide service to improve access to care in rural and highly rural areas; improve access to specialty care; reduce time spent in travel and time off work; and reduce costs.
