URGENT: Call to Action - Medi-Cal Reimbursement Policy Change Effective January 15, 2013

Department of Health Care Services has posted a change in reimbursement policy for Medi-Cal hearing aids.   HHP is concerned that the change in reimbursement will either severely limit access to Medi-Cal hearing aids or eliminate the program altogether.

For over a year HHP/CA has been working with Amnon Shalev and other providers to stop this policy change.  We all thought we had succeeded and then only recently received notice of the policy change taking effect January 15, 2013

We have attached a letter Amnon wrote to Toby Douglas, Director, Department of Health Care Services.   We are asking that members send a personal letter to Director Douglas and also to the Governor's Office stating the impact this policy will have on your personal business and the patients you serve.  Will you continue to provide hearing aids to Medi-Cal recipients if this policy change goes through?

Along with the letters, a hearing has been requested of the Budget Committee.  We believe this policy will kill the Medi-Cal program but need your testimony if this is true.  If you are willing we would like a copy of your letter to share with members of the legislature.

To assist you in this we have also attached a sample letter.

We urgently request your help in this matter.

Sincerely,

Don Tucker, BC-HIS
