Medi-Cal Reimbursement Policy Change Notice

On December 3, Medi-Cal posted a notice titled, Hearing Aids Reimbursement Policy Change.  The notice reported a new hearing aid reimbursement policy definition that read:  The "unit price" or the "single unit price" as identified in the manufacturer's wholesale catalog, less rebates, discounts, or other reductions in price and not including taxed."

The existing definition is:  "The "unit price" or the "single unit price" as identified in the manufacturer's wholesale catalog not including rebates, discounts, taxes or any other factors."

The notice reported that the re-worded policy would take effect January 15, 2013.  However, we are happy to report that due to intensive work by HHP member Amnon Shalev with the Department of Health Care Services and legislators, the department removed from its website Newsroom the policy change notice.  The fight is not over yet, HHP will continue to work on this and will keep you informed.
