HHP Continues to Support IHS In Its Efforts to Protect Consumers
HHP has previously reported on its ongoing efforts to support IHS in its efforts to protect consumers, especially when sales of hearing aids are being made direct to consumers - without a hearing evaluation by a hearing healthcare professional. In response to those concerns, the attached letter and joint statement was sent to the California Department of Public Health. The letter is signed by leadership of the below associations and asks the department to issue a notice to consumers stressing the importance of seeing a hearing healthcare professional for hearing loss, which upholds state and federal legal protections built in to the system for the benefit of consumers.
HHP continues to support IHS in its efforts. Please feel free to share with us your experience of helping patients in the aftermath of being serviced by an online provider. This information will assist us in helping to demonstrate to SLPA HADB and the Department of Public Health that risk of harm to the public exists. Feel free to submit your experiences to the association at hhpca@hhpca.org.
