Update
The SLPA HADB is conducting an Occupational Analysis (OA) for hearing aid dispensers and is seeking qualified hearing aid dispensers and dispensing audiologists to review information related to the profession of dispensing. This OA will identify the tasks performed in the dispensing profession and the knowledge required to practice as a licensed dispenser in California. The results of the OA form the basis of the licensing examinations, helping to ensure the examinations are job-related. The last OA was performed in 2007. The OA begins with interviews of licensees to gather information about the tasks performed in the dispensing or practice and the knowledge that is required to perform those tasks. If you are interested in providing this vital service to the State of California and be considered by the Board to be a Subject Matter Expert, please verify that you meet the following criteria:
- Possess a current and valid California Hearing Aid Dispensing License or Dispensing Audiology license. This licensee must have 5 or more years of experience and expertise in the practice of dispensing.
- Have no pending complaints or discipline against your hearing aid dispensing or dispensing audiology license or any health care related license in California or in any other state.
- Agree to the current reimbursement rate of $140.00 per day for workshops/interviews and any document preparation. You will be reimbursed for travel expenses within the State guidelines.
- You must complete a conflict of interest form, examination security agreement, and several other forms.
If you meet the requirements and are interested in possibly becoming a Subject Matter Expert, please fill out the application available at, http://www.slpab.ca.gov/licensees/sme_analysis.pdf then send a copy of the form & a resume to: SLPAHADB 2005 Evergreen St #2100, Sacramento, CA 95815 (Attn: Debbie).
