Year Round

Even though the fireworks for the 4th of July celebrations have ceased, there are still some spectacular deals at market!  This weekend we are featuring an "After the 4th Berry & Cherry Explosion!!" That means you can mix 'n' match any two cherry, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, currant or gooseberry for only $9.00!

We have loads of red and green gooseberries.  If you would like to pre-order a flat, please call the office:  717-334-2722.  They are $48 for a 12 half pint flat.

Our Lodi and Transparent apples have been harvested.  If you would like a half bushel box to make applesauce, please call the office and we'll make sure that we have a box for you at market.

We'll see you at market!!

The Peaches are HERE!!
We surprised lots of market shoppers last weekend with our first peachespicking of peaches.  They are such a juicy and welcoming treat!  While these peaches are not free-stone, they are still fragrant and flavorful.

One thing that is common with early season peaches are "split pits."  Split pits occur in early season peaches because their growing season is so short and they swell and ripen very quickly.  So quickly, that the force causes the flesh to pull the pit, splitting it in half.

So if you see these split pit peaches at market, they are perfectly a-okay!

Fragrant Garlic
We are selling the last of our garlic scapes this weekend (if you haven't made a batch of garlic scape pesto....now is your last chance!) and good timing, because our garlic is now curing.

We had two plantings of garlic last fall.  We usually order 'German White' garlic because it yields large and flavorful heads.  After it was planted, we were concerned that we didn't have enough for all of our markets and our up-coming Winter CSA.

Luckily, we had held on to our garlic seconds that weren't good enough to sell.  So we broke apart the bulbs and planted the cloves, not really sure what the results would be.

The garlic that we ordered yielded big beautiful heads.  The garlic that we planted from last year's harvest yielded small and cute heads.  Its interesting to see that the size quality of the product changes from generation to generation.

So what does this mean for you?  Whether you purchase a large or small head of garlic, it will still taste great.  You'll see our larger heads of garlic in the upcoming weeks as they are taking a little longer to cure.

Here's a picture of the garlic curing under the barn.  Whenever the wind picks up, it smells so delicious!
We look forward to seeing you at the Farmers Market!
