Exciting Visit from U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack
|
On Thursday, Secretary of Ag, Tom Vilsack made an announcement about federal funds that are available to farmers through the Farm Bill. The specific funds addressed are for conservation practices. Sec. Tom Vilsack wanted to make the presentation at a farm that has utilized a variety of federal programs, and he came to Kuhn Orchards. Here's a video clip of his visit.
The projects that we have implemented are our wetlands which now provides habitat for many waterfowl, frogs, and salamanders. We have also enrolled in a program to help us construct a high tunnel. This is important to you because we grow our late season raspberries and blackberries in the high tunnel.
We have also preserved some of our land so that it can never be developed and must remain in agriculture or open space for perpetuity.
