Workshop: Regulatory Affairs 101: Navigating the FDA Process
Tuesday, November 12, 2013, 1:00-5:00pm
Wolstein Research Building Auditorium
This workshop is designed to provide investigators with awareness of regulatory requirements and acceptable standards for the conduct of clinical trials and the protection of human subjects. The desired outcome from this workshop is that researchers be able to understand the function of the FDA and Investigator responsibilities for those holding Investigational New Drug (IND) applications or Investigational Device Exemptions (IDE) or those investigators conducting research under and IND or IDE.

Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 3.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits(TM). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

New Course: Clinical Informatics at the Bedside and the Bench
A new class will be offered this fall to introduce students and professionals to the discipline of clinical informatics - a multidisciplinary field revolving around the use of electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Titled "Clinical Informatics at the Bedside and the Bench," the course is listed as SYBB 421 and will be led by Vishal N. Patel, MD PhD (vishal.patel2@case.edu).
Through a combination of lectures, discussions, and hands-on training, this 3-credit course introduces students to EMRs and the possibilities for research on EMR systems and their data. A computational background is not necessary for this course. The course will be held in the Biomedical Research Building (9th floor) on Tuesday evenings, 5:30-8:30 PM. Conference: From Neurodegeneration to Brain Health

Held on the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine campus near University Circle in Cleveland, Ohio, the symposium will feature a special evening at the Museum of Contemporary Art in its new building.

Ohio Clinical Trials Collaborative Town Hall

Join us to learn about the Ohio Clinical Trials Collaborative (OCTC) and how it can help accelerate clinical research. Following a short presentation, Dean Pamela Davis and James Chmiel, MD, the OCTC's new medical director and chief executive, will welcome questions about the collaborative and its research opportunities.
The town hall will be followed by a brief reception with light refreshments and a chance to talk with other researchers and colleagues.
