Four new Back to School Bags supporting early literacy as well as science, math, and social studies standards are now available through INFOhio and the Ohio Department of Education.
Each Back to School Bag focuses on a specific theme:
Each "Bag" contains:
- A unit lesson plan using INFOhio's online resources clearly linked to Ohio's New Learning Standards.
- Ideas for differentiation and for improving students' tech skills for online testing.
- Ideas for assessments along with ready-made rubrics and graphic organizers.
- Suggested activities and picture books for further reading and study.

Here's an easy way to find differentiated informational text for your class: search by Lexile range in any of the following EBSCOhost or World Book products.
- Kids Search (Click Detailed Search. Select Lexile range in several places.)
Just enter a search term (such as "fracking" or "Johnny Appleseed") and select or enter a Lexile range to get a list of articles at the appropriate level for your class.

Reacquaint Your Students with KnowItNow24x7
With school back in session, it's a great time to get reacquainted with KnowItNow24x7, Ohio's free online reference service.
Students can get research guidance, book recommendations, and homework help 24 hours a day 7 days a week. They can chat with librarians at www.knowitnow.org or through widgets available on many public library websites. Students can also text questions to 216-539-4KIN (216-539-4546).
