"But what makes the databases available to us so beneficial are the many formats of information offered: primary sources, images, interviews, video and audio recordings, and more."

BookFlix Celebrates 2 Million Clicks!
Dr. Ross, Andre and Tyler Tyler Kerner and Andre Priest, second graders at Gahanna Christian Academy, show State Education Superintendent Richard Ross their favorite books in BookFlix, an online literacy resource that INFOhio has provided to all Ohio PreK-3 schools to support the Third Grade Reading Guarantee. Tyler and Andre, along with GCA Curriculum Coordinator and Reading Specialist Rebecca Rader, were special ambassadors at the 2 Million Clicks Celebration Breakfast held the first morning of the Ohio Education Technology Conference, January 27.

In addition to Dr. Ross, Andre and Tyler helped welcome other special guests, including Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor John Carey, ITC directors, and other digital learning leaders. The celebration's purpose was to increase awareness about BookFlix and the support it offers schools in meeting the Third Grade Reading Guarantee.

Since BookFlix first became available July 1, 2013, Ohio students have visited BookFlix more than 700,000 times, perusing on average more than 3 books and related pages for a total of more than 2.2 million clicks.

Special thanks to Scholastic for sponsoring the celebration breakfast and to the dozens of teachers and librarians who were able to join us that morning to show the decision makers present the importance of digital tools in the classroom.
