Happy Halloween!
The cool of fall is in the air & the leaves are starting to pile up, plus everything in the store is pumpkin flavored (exactly when did that start?) - so it must be Halloween! It seems neither of the Norwalk lighthouses is haunted, but Execution Rocks Lighthouse is now a B&B & is offering the ultimate haunted overnight stay... Considered one of New York's most historically significant structures, Execution Rocks Lighthouse still helps boaters navigate the western Sound. According to legends, Execution Rocks Lighthouse gets its name from the British authorities that used the island to execute their opposition in one of the most sadistic ways imaginable: by chaining them to the jagged rocks at low tide, slowly drowning them as the water rose.
Plenty of paranormal television shows, most notably Ghost Adventures, have rowed their teams out to the haunted lighthouse in order to search for evidence of the supernatural activity. Many ghost hunters have captured the sounds of disembodied voices, cries of anguish, and even a mysterious black shadow that darts in and out of reality as if not tied to our realm. Though not on the water, Norwalk's Gallaher Estate and Cranbury Park were investigated. See the video... HERE Other notable hauntings to visit.... HERE

POWER PLANT UPDATE
From the Hour: The Manresa Association has taken a big step toward finding a new use for the dormant NRG power plant that looms over Norwalk Harbor - but it needs a bit more money.
The community organization has raised over half of the funds needed to co-fund a $150,000 economic impact analysis of the property. Mayor Harry Rilling has agreed to provide matching funds from the City of Norwalk.
"The metrics provided by the economic impact analysis will be used to apprise the public and city officials of the financial, social and economic implications of the various possible uses for this landmark property," Mayor Rilling said.
"The Economic Impact Analysis is a critical first step in determining the future of the 125 acre Manresa property, that sits directly on Long Island Sound. This study will provide an objective analysis that will enable Norwalk leaders to make an informed decision on a range of potential options for the property," association director Charles Taney said.
