Long Island Sound Health Explorer

Save the Sound launched the Sound Health Explorer in 2015 as a tool to increase our understanding of water quality conditions in Long Island Sound and to activate local and regional solutions to improve those conditions. They are striving to make the available water quality data accessible to and understandable by members of the public. Without access to reliable data, water pollution will remain a mystery subject to speculation, or worse, inaction.

Empowered with data, they urge everyone who loves Long Island Sound to educate themselves on their local water quality conditions and local sources of water pollution, and focus on the important task of eliminating those sources and preserving the health of our beloved Sound.
Recent data shows a total of 165 beaches on the Sound, or 83 percent, met or surpassed national averages for clean water from 2011 to 2015; up from 159 beaches, or 80 percent in 2010 to 2014. However, some Long Island Sound beaches still suffer from periodic unsafe bacteria pollution. A total of 35 Sound beaches, or 17 percent, had water quality below the national average.

Ready for a New Boat ? How 'Bout an ARK?

A controversial 510 foot Ark has been constructed and is open to the public in Kentucky...

The ark is expected to draw some 2 million visitors in its first year, putting it on par with some of the big-ticket attractions in nearby Cincinnati.

The builders say the ark is based on dimensions from the Bible. Inside are museum-style exhibits: displays of Noah's family along with rows of cages containing animal replicas, including dinosaurs...

Emergency Repairs - Completed in Record Time at Norwalk Cove

Suppose you are racing around the world in a fleet of custom 75 foot ocean racers in a year-long 14 leg adventure and during the 11th leg, heading for NY, you hit something...hard.
    Who you gonna call?

Panicked, the race management called Norwalk Cove to not only replace the bow section on the boat "City of Seattle" that went missing after a container encounter or such "somewhere between Panama & NYC" but to also
create a new rudder for "Qingdao" to replace the one that was torn off during a media demo sail in NYC. (pretty embarrassing, after sailing around the world)

The hitch was that both projects had to be completed during the 12 boat fleet's four day layover in NYC...
