This Weekend - The Oyster Bay Oyster Festival

Great last cruise of the season!
More than 150 years ago, Theodore Roosevelt - the 26th President of the United States - was born to a wealthy family that summered in Oyster Bay, not far from the waterfront property that today bears his name. To honor his memory, community leaders organized a parade to celebrate his 125th birthday. The parade proved so successful that it provided the roots of what would become the Oyster Festival in 1983.

Fall is Here, Like it or Not
The overnight temperature will Fall to the low 30's this weekend... is that why it's called Fall ?
OK, maybe you can squeak in a trip to Oyster Bay this weekend, but the grim reality is that it's time to prepare for winterizing.Hopefully you kept the winterizing list from last year with your boat files, but there's help (and unsolicited advise) available. Incidentally, why are boaters such an opinionated lot ? Ask a boat question to ten boaters and get 10 different answers! Here are some links to winterizing tips..... HERE, and HERE

Alternatively, having your boat professionally winterized and covered is the key to a long life for your boat, engine and systems. Don't put it off, thinking that you will get around to it. Temperatures are already in the mid 40's at night and the first freeze is right around the corner!
 Consider having the Pros at Rex or Cove address your boat's winter needs, even if you store it in your own driveway. The right tools, additives, filters and know-how are key ingredients to successful winterization. Your boat will thank you by looking and running great in the spring!
