The Volvo Boats Will be Racing Off Newport
Last weekend was hopping in Newport, with large crowds coming to greet the Volvo Race crews and see the boats. It seemed that all of Newport was involved, with posters, flags and banners everywhere.
The displays and presentations at Fort Adams where incredible, as was the reggae party and food courts. There will be Pro-Am Racing right off of Castle Hill and the Fort Friday and Saturday with the next leg start (to Lisbon) on Sunday. Great day trip!

Hazardous Materials in Dockboxes.
Do you know what is in your dockbox ??
Frequently some form of Class I flammable such as gasoline or acetone are stored in dockboxes. Both of these materials have a very low flash point, meaning the liquid form is releasing vapors. Gasoline has a flash point of -43F and acetone -20F making them very likely to cause a flash fire or explosion.
Acetone becomes explosive at a concentration of 2.5% by volume to air and it doesn't take long to build up and explosive vapor concentration. Any spark from static electricity or open flame could create a very dangerous situation. Remember, marina policy states that the storage of flammable materials in a dockbox is prohibited
