Rare Fanged Deer Spotted on Sheffield Island
Thought to be extinct, the Kashmir fanged deer are making a comeback.
 Wildlife Conservancy scientists have been conducting a winter-long investigation. During the survey, the researchers spotted a single male Kashmir musk deer near the same area three separate times. The researchers also recorded one female and her baby, and saw a second single female that they think may have been the same deer, without her baby. The researchers also found the carcass of a poached female deer.
It is uncertain how these rare deer will exist harmoniously with the other protected species on the island. Other sighting of the fanged deer have recently occurred in the Bronx and in Ronkonkoma Long Island.

Rex Unveils New Services
 As part of Rex Marine's "Boat Cloud" mobile boat launching app, you can now order customized picnic baskets of epicurean delights. Four different baskets will be available, with a choice of champagne, beer, sweet tea or sparkling water. A new staff of Rex "mermaids" will greet you as you arrive and spray you with the latest in designer sunscreens from SPF 4.5 to SPF 220 or coconut oil. A trial run of the services, conducted last Fall, had some enthusiastic boaters happily anticipating boating from the Rex Marine Center docks this Summer.
A selection of boating hats will be available at the dockhead.
