This Week Norwalk Celebrates the
                                    Completion of Dredging

With the goal of making Norwalk harbor modern, safe and inviting, the dredging is close to completion. An event was held Wednesday at Vet's Park celebrating the many folks who worked for years to make the dredging a reality...... THANK YOU !

The dredge is now off the South Norwalk Boat Club working it's way to finishing at the Stroffolino Bridge.  Upon completion, the channel in the outer harbor will be a uniform twelve feet at low tide.

Lobster Die Off Continues
                          as Harvest Moratorium Ends

Long Island Sound lobstermen are still grappling with the 13 year of a die-off that has decimated the industry. As CT passes laws banning certain chemicals, New York has lagged behind, driven perhaps by the strong lobby of lawn care companies and chemical suppliers.

For example, New Haven alone was once home to 315 licensed lobstermen. Now, as a result of toxins, the poor water quality, temperature and harvesting conditions, there are less than 20 full time lobstermen working on Long Island Sound.
