"Know Your Limits"
Boating for many means experiencing exhilarating freedom and adventure. Out on the water, there are no drawn lanes to be dutifully followed, and boaters can enjoy breaking the surly bonds of land-borne life. At the same time, boating requires a measure of self-sufficiency and accountability; boaters need to be knowledgeable and prepared when heading out on the water. In the immortal words of Dirty Harry, "A man's got to know his limitations."

Navigating with Your Phone, Tablet or Computer ?
We've always been impressed with the Active Captain website and what their Interactive Cruising Guidebook can offer boaters. Now there are even more mobile programs that include the Active Captain database that don't need Wi-Fi or cell tower data.
For a list of the various programs available, CLICK HERE
Prices vary, as does sophistication and features, so do your homework, (great winter project) but remember: There is no substitute for real charts and a compass when the power goes out or the phone/tablet/computer gets wet. Note: Not "IF", it's "WHEN" !
