Boating Safety -  Fenders and Docklines

Note: NOT Bumpers or Ropes !
Bumpers are for dinghies and strollers and a dockline (or any line on a boat) stopped being a "rope" the minute you walked out of the store.

Seriously, walking the docks you can see a vast array of fenders and various docklines ranging from mermaid fenders, "hole on each end" spherical and "line through the middle" fenders, along with docklines ranging from 1/4" clothes line (no kidding ! ) to 3/4" braided color coordinated lines with spliced eyes.

So, what should you really be using to protect your boat ?        Click HERE for to find out.

This Weekend - Clearwater's Great
  Hudson River Revival

It seems everyone knows of the Hudson River sloop Clearwater and it's mission to promote environmental concerns and as a champion of the Hudson River. We often see her hauled at Norwalk Cove, where her friendly crew replace planks and ribs, and caulk, and caulk, and paint, and caulk some more. Launched in Maine in 1969 and having hosted over 250,000 visitors, she's always in need of love and care.
This weekend is her special weekend, she's the star of a huge music and environmental festival; The Clearwater Great Hudson River Revival. Featuring seven different stages, dozens of musical groups and performers, dancers, storytellers, boat exhibits, environmental education displays and food vendors, the Revival is the real thing.
Consider attending, the music is exceptional, the crowds friendly and the revenue raised by the Revival goes to support Clearwater's numerous educational programs and its work toward environmental and social justice-as well as keeping the sloop Clearwater afloat.
