Islands for Sale !
A wealthy heiress who has spent $35 million since the late 1990s amassing a collection of nine of the Thimble Islands off Branford, Conn., is now putting two of them up for sale.
On Aug. 27th Christine Svenningsen  listed Jepson Island and the larger Belden Island for sale - the first time an entire island in the Thimbles has been for sale in at least the last five years, according to agents at William Pitt Sotheby's International Realty in Madison, which has the listing.
How much, you ask ? Jepson Island, with about a third of an acre and a 1,000 square-foot, contemporary style house carries an asking price of just under $2 million.

Rescue the Movie Star Contest ! 
After last weekend's rescue of Actor Russell Crowe (who got lost in Huntington harbor on a rental kayak and was found by the US Coast Guard), we should see who else we can rescue along the CT shoreline !
The Oscar-winning actor, who played Capt. Jack Aubrey in the swashbuckling "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" (2003), lost his way after daylight faded near Cold Spring Harbor.
Note: Finding a movie star on a dock or safely on a boat does not count.

Cruise Planning Tools - At Home, At the Dock or Underway
A Great tool to use either when planning a cruise or a quick visit to another harbor is "Active Captain". An online program, Active Captain integrates NOAA charts, a Bing map, Satellite pictures or a Hybrid view mix of satellite and map data all with colored markers into an Interactive Cruising Guidebook.
