69TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY SESSION COULD PROVE MOST CHALLENGING EVER

With the Democratic Party regaining control of the House of Representatives in the fall election, the Dems now control both the legislative and Executive branches in Colorado.   While gun control, civil unions, oil and gas drilling requirements, and regulation of recreational marijuana use will dominate, mining could find itself in the cross-hairs on legislation to raise the renewable energy mandate in Colorado or to impose a statewide cap on "greenhouse gas emissions."

OVER 120 ATTEND LEGISLATIVE RECEPTION

CMA's annual reception January 10 drew more than 120 people, including nearly 40 legislators.   Nearly twenty attended the legislative briefing on mining delivered by CMA President Stuart Sanderson that preceded the event.   Pictured below, Sanderson discusses the minerals produced in Colorado, why they are important to our daily lives and the opportunities and challenges that will influence mining's future.
