We regret to report the death of longtime Cleveland Chapter member Warren Scharf. 

 

Baldwin Wallace University has issued the following statement:

 

Dr. Warren Scharf, 84, director of the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music from 1967-1984, died June 11 from complications following heart surgery. The affable professor was credited with sustaining and building upon the BW Conservatory's proud heritage and commitment to excellence while introducing programs to expand accessibility to classical music and music education to a broader audience.  Read more

 

 

The following statement appeared today in ClevelandClassical.com:

 

Warren Scharf, director of the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory from 1967-1984 and co-director of music at Old Stone Church with his wife, Margaret Rickerd Scharf, from 1969-1999, died on June 11 of complications following open heart surgery. A memorial service will be held onSaturday, June 21 at 11:00 am at Berea United Methodist Church. Singers are invited to join a choir conducted by Allie Laurie to sing an anthem during the service. E-mail organist Nicole Keller if you wish to participate. 

 

 

Nicole Keller, former student and longtime colleague of the Scharfs, has also made available the following information:

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a fund to help cover the medical costs associated with Maggie's ongoing care and Warren's funeral service. If you would like to make a contribution, please visit any US Bank location (Please make checks payable to the "Warren and Margaret Scharf Fund").
