From the Dean

It's a privilege to begin my service as dean of the Cleveland chapter of the AGO.  To begin I would like express my gratitude to Fern.  Her tenure as Dean will indeed be a very hard act to follow.  Her leadership and dedication have been unmatched, and I know we all have looked forward each week to reading her insightful and inspiring articles in the weekly newsletter.  I would also like to thank Barbara MacGregor for her service as sub-dean.  Barbara has worked tirelessly in planning and organizing the events we've enjoyed so much.  Her dedication and commitment have been a huge part of the success of the Cleveland AGO.  I'm also grateful to Don Jackson and Jan Jones for their past and continued service as officers.

The AGO has a long and fine tradition of sponsoring great recitals, wonderful educational opportunities and fun social events.  I look forward to continuing all of those excellent things.  For me, one of the primary reasons to be a part of any organization is connection.  Psychologists tell us we all need it to survive and thrive.  In this day and age technology is providing us with opportunities to connect in ways we haven't been able to before.  One of the focuses we'll have in the coming months will be to find ways to use social media and technology to enhance our ability to connect and communicate.  More on that to come.

I look forward to connecting with and getting to know better our chapter members.  I'm always up for getting together over coffee or chatting on the phone and hearing your ideas and concerns for the Cleveland AGO.

"My idea is that there is music in the air, music all around us; the world is full of it, and you simply take as much as you require." ~Edward Elgar
