I hope you have put our next program, our Young Organist Showcase Recital on your calendar for Sunday, October 27 at 4:00 pm. I have heard both of these young people play and they are very talented. You will enjoy their playing and getting to meet them as well at the reception. This will be a sort of progressive recital in that we will move from the Fairmount Church Chapel where we will hear the Ruggles organ to the Sanctuary with its large Schantz organ. Somewhere in there we will have refreshments and time to chat. Let's support the next generation of organists!

I look forward to seeing you there.

Fern

ORGANS OF OBERLIN

Organs of Oberlin, by Stephen Schnurr, has been published by Chauncey Park Press of Oak Park, Illinois. The book traces the history of the pipe organs at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and in the town of Oberlin, Ohio, from the 1854 Alvinza Andrews organ in the First Congregational Church to organs that have been acquired but not yet installed on the campus. Profusely illustrated with vintage illustrations as well as contemporary photographs by William T. Van Pelt, Trevor Dodd, the author, and others, the text includes many specifications and dedication programs. James David Christie, Chair and Professor of Organ at Oberlin, contributed the foreword. The 150-page, full color volume is hard bound with a color dust jacket. Copies may be purchased for $50 plus $5 shipping and handling, per book. Visit organsofoberlin.com for further details and for orders.
