AGO logo Weekly Update - Cleveland Chapter

American Guild of Organists

May 23, 2013
From the Dean

Jennings, Fern
Fern Jennings

Twenty-two members and two guests met on Sunday for the annual meeting of the Cleveland Chapter AGO at First Presbyterian Church of Lakewood. The meeting followed an enjoyable concert by "Good Company: A Vocal Ensemble" and a reception. The group received reports of the chapter's activities of the year including a Treasurer's report of the year to date. Past Dean Peg Limkemann installed the newly elected officers. These included continuing officers myself, Dean;  Barbara MacGregor, Sub-Dean and Donald Jackson, Treasurer. Jan Jones was installed as Secretary for a one year term. Installed as members of the Executive Committee serving three year terms are Paul Guyer, Annie Kaschube and Grant Wiswell. I look forward to meeting with these new Executive Committee members as well as continuing and outgoing members at the old and new Committee meeting on June 4. We will adopt a budget and finalize program plans for the year at that meeting.

Barbara MacGregor and I attended the Ohio Dean's meeting in Columbus on Saturday. The meeting was convened by our Regional Councilor, David Lamb. Chapter Deans from around the state shared highlights of their program year along with other concerns and ideas. This annual meeting is a valuable format for staying in touch with colleagues around the state.

Best to you,

Fern

KALAMAZOO CONVENTION

There is still plenty of time to register for the Region V AGO convention to be held June 30-July 3 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Regular registration is in effect until June 11 when late registration begins. Billed as a "walkable" convention, the event promises to be an enjoyable opportunity to hear fine instruments and performers and to have the opportunity to meet organists from around our region at a very reasonable cost. In addition to the concerts there are numerous workshops and an opportunity for a "Choral track". See details at the convention website: http://agokalamazoo.org/index.htm. Let me know if you are going. Some may wish to car-pool or find a roommate. I hope we have a good representation of our members there. (FJ)
