I'M BAAAAAACK!
But I was never really gone
I know it's been a while, dear readers, and I appreciate hearing from you how much you have missed Yoga Bits! I missed you, too! The simple fact is: I became swamped with wonderful opportunities and something had to give. Alas, that was the newsletter. As you can see, I've redesigned it a bit (it's now mobile-friendly) and I'm hoping this new, streamlined version will make it easier for me to consistently publish. This approach is also compatible with this year's theme of sustainability. You'll be hearing a lot about it in my classes and in the newsletter between now and next summer.  For now, please take a quick scroll through the newsletter to see what's going on.
Sustainability -- our theme for the "new year"
I observe the new year three times in every 365-day period.  Perhaps you can guess the first two: There's the obvious date of January 1st, as well as the Jewish New Year (aka Rosh Hashanah). But now that I'm a Kundalini yoga practitioner, I also mark the year that occurs between Summer Solstices. I've recently returned from my annual trek to New Mexico in celebration of this auspicious time and I'm armed with a theme for the next 12 months: sustainability.  This term is predominantly used in reference to preserving the resources of our planet. There are miraculous efforts at foot to create awareness in this area, such as this course offered in Orgeon in the fall Sustainability through Permaculture Design. In my classes this year, we will be exploring the issue from a very personal perspective on the mat. What does it mean to sustain a yoga pose or even a consistent yoga practice? Join me as we discover what it means to experience this in ourselves, and then turn that awareness out into the world.

Guru Singh Teaching SS2010
A Spiritual Thriller!
That's how people are describing Buried Treasures, the recently-published memoir from my teacher, Guru Singh. The book chronicles the years between his near-death experience at age 19 and his introduction to Yogi Bhajan. Follow Guru Singh, then Gerry Pond, from his participation in the exploding music scene of the Haight Ashbury to his spiritual awakening in the remote Mexica region with an uncontacted tribe.   Go to Amazon
