Saint Patrick's Weekly Reminders
July 9, 2015
|
Please join us this Sunday for worship at 8:30 or 10:30 am. Children's Chapel is suspended during the summer months, but children are invited to join their leaders during the first half of the 10:30 am service for structured and fun activities.
Sabbath frees us to praise God with our bodies as well as mind and spirit. This week's spiritual practice explores dance as an expression of praise. Put this week's quote near your usual source of listening to music. Try some slow rhythmic movement to the meditative music. Read the Sabbath prayer with the word 'dancing' substituted for 'quiet stillness'. Draw stick figures dancing on your calendar You can still sign up for Sabbath Keepers, our weekly email group by clicking here.
With the Fourth of July blast now over, St. Patrick's is about to kick off our Back 2 School bash! Back 2 School Bash is an annual Outreach event that St. Patrick's participates in where we as a church work with local businesses, schools, and other churches to provide school supplies for students. The Back 2 School Bash provides a free backpack, school supplies and a new pair of tennis shoes for in need students grades K-12 living in the Mooresville Graded School District and Iredell School District. The event is scheduled for Saturday August 1, 2015 at Mooresville High School / Magnolia Campus (160 S. Magnolia St. Mooresville, NC 28115) from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
So how can you help?
Beginning this Sunday July 12th and running for three consecutive weeks (July 12, 19, and 26) there will be a Back 2 School Bash collection box and representative in the narthex after both the 8:30 and 10:30 services. Please take the time to stop by and pick up a list of school supplies or hear about other ways you can help support the Back 2 School Bash15 campaign. For those who want to get a head start please click here for a full list of school supplies in need.
ReBuild the Churches Fund. The Outreach Committee, Vestry and Clergy of St. Patrick's are joining in love and support of the Rebuild the Churches Fund, a collection being organized by the Episcopal Cathedral in St. Louis, Missouri to unite people of all faiths in standing with their brothers and sisters to help rebuild the buildings. The fund will be divided equally between four predominately black churches burned by arsonists. Briar Creek Baptist, one of the four, is in Charlotte. Over 132 faith communities -- Christian, Jewish, and Muslim -- have committed to at least one special offering. A special collection will be taken here this Sunday, July 12th and you can make a contribution by writing a check to St. Patrick's through the end of July and put "Rebuild the Churches" in the memo line.
Mark Fowler our Youth Director has additional Auto Bell Coupons for sale. They are $16.00 same price as at the carwash. Email him by clicking here.
