Saint Patrick's Weekly Reminders
June 18, 2015
|
Please join us this Sunday for worship at 8:30 or 10:30 am. Children's Chapel is suspended during the summer months, but children are invited to join their leaders during the first half of the 10:30 am service for structured and fun activities.
This Sunday we are delighted to welcome back The Rev. Canon Cathie Caimano as our guest preacher. Canon Caimano has also offered to be available after both services this Sunday to answer any questions you have about the events of the national church. We are in the midst of General Convention and a new Presiding Bishop will be elected on June 27th (Bishop Curry is a candidate). Please give Canon Caimano a warm Saint Patrick's welcome this Sunday.
Sabbath shifts our focus to things God wants us to notice. This week's spiritual practice sensitizes us to little gifts of revelation intended specifically for us. Reread this week's quote whenever you need a reminder of why you are keeping Sabbath. Consider listening to the meditative music each time you want to pause and notice what God is doing all around you. Read the Sabbath prayer at the beginning and ending of your Sabbath day. Use your calendar to make a quick note of blessings as you notice them. You can still sign up for a weekly email by clicking here.
The Education for Ministry program is recruiting new members for its fall session. EFM is a four-year program, meeting weekly and covering the Old Testament, New Testament, church history and theology. EFM provides you with the foundations and message of our Christian faith. After 11 years of EFM at Saint Patrick's, many parishioners are graduates. Most of your questions regarding EFM are explained in detail by following this link. If you have further questions or require clarification, please contact Rick Krumel for more details and registration by June 30th.
Our Nursery/Children's Chapel at Saint Patrick's is in need of volunteers for the summer and fall. Since our attendance drops off in the summer, we are currently taking a break from Children's Chapel over the summer months. We will start back in late August. In the meantime, the kids are gathering to play and enjoy fellowship on the playground (weather permitting) and in the Nursery room so their parents can attend service. We are in need of two volunteers each Sunday, in addition to our Children's Ministry Leader, Stacey Fox. Stacey will be out of town for vacation on June 28th and July 19th so those two Sundays we will need three volunteers. If we are unable to get enough volunteers, we will have no choice but to close the Nursery and our summer Children's gathering on those weeks. Please take a look at your calendars and sign up to help out by clicking here.
Stephen Bennett will perform at Saint Patrick's this Sunday, June 21st at 7:00 pm. Stephen is an extraordinary musician, an acknowledged master of the harp guitar, a gifted composer and a performer of astounding sensitivity. Often called "the Jedi Master of Fingerstyle Guitar", his music has won awards and critical praise. Stephen will also be hosting the 13th annual Harp Guitar Gathering at Saint Patrick's in October. Both events are not to be missed. The concert includes a wine and cheese reception, so if you are planning to attend, please bring a finger food to share. Tickets at the door: $15 adults and $10 students/seniors. For more details, click here.
Altar Flowers are needed for July 5th, 12th, and 19th. If you would like to donate flowers in memory of a loved one or in celebration of a special day, please click here to sign up.
Our next scheduled day to serve as Prep Chefs at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen is on Tuesday, July 14th from 1 to 4 pm. Currently we still have many slots to fill. We are in need of 6 to 10 volunteers, 16 years of age and older who can commit to helping to prepare the frozen meals for those in need. You can sign up to help by clicking
